Prenatal Substance Use Prevention Program (PSUPP)

NHCI participates in the Indiana State Department of Health Prenatal Substance Use Prevention Program (PSUPP), which aims to prevent negative pregnancy outcomes from maternal drug use in pregnancy. The PSUPP program seeks to educate clinic patients, the general public, and medical and social service providers about the risks of pregnancy complications, spontaneous abortion, preterm birth, low birth weight and fetal neurological and organ damage, which can stem from fetal exposure to everything from nicotine and alcohol to cocaine and other drugs.
